Good, Random, Fun ~ Week 25

the GOOD
In 2016 I'm attempting to do #52weeksofstorytelling with a different theme each week.
Week 24/52 - Acceptance

I've know it for some time now, but it hit me hard at the library....I'm not a parent of littles anymore. We used to read stacks of picture books, but now we hardly check them out. We've moved on to chapter books. My oldest can stay home alone and rides in the front seat of the car with me. This week my youngest got her ears pierced. They can mow the lawn and do the laundry and cook basic meals. They aren't little girls anymore. I'm entering a new season of parenting, which is looking quite different than the last one. It's funny what can trigger moments of nostalgia...like the picture books in the library.

  1. We are at different stages, but college kids entering adulthood has also been a bit nostalgic and a great letting go for me and a very different stage. I understand what you might be feeling.

  3. I heard Ravi Zacharias say that this grieving of how time zooms by is, in itself, evidence that we were made as eternal beings. That made great sense to me.

  4. Definitely a change when our "kids" are not small anymore. And it continues when they fly away from the nest. Neat though to experience their adulthood and see which direction they take in life!
Ah...the daisy (my oldest daughter's name, translated in Dutch) -Now she has four of her own!
Many thanks for this series of photos you are sharing with SEASONS! Love the one with the two violins! Have a happy week!

  5. And then when the grandchildren come, the season of littles starts again! I love it when the grandchildren ask me to read a book.

  6. I completely understand about your girls and the "new changes" in their lives. Coleen is my grandaughter but I am helping to raise her and how well I remember trips to the library for picture books. She's 11 now so no more picture books. Still it's fun to watch them grow into young ladies isn't it. Enjoyed those beautiful flowers and the different little critters. You take some wonderful photos.
