"To attain knowledge, add things everyday.
To attain wisdom, subtract things everyday."
~ Lao-tzu
I've been subtracting things from my life recently, not only physically by decluttering but also by saying "no" to being busy. I don't do well when I try to fly by the seat of my pants. I need time to prepare, time to work, time to reflect and time to play.
Right now each and every thing that demands my time and attention is getting scrutinized. If it's not going to push me closer toward my goal, it gets ignored. Only the essential things remain.

This sounds so purposeful!
ReplyDeleteSpoken like a true Type 4. By the way, do you know that there is a Type 4 night tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteYes, I did know and I'm excited!
DeleteWonderful! Looking forward to it myself. Be blessed and thank you for your awesome blog.
ReplyDeleteJill, I've been subtracting things from my life, too. The cold weather is not all bad. It's allowing me to get rid of clutter around the house. Your B&W macro is fabulous! Thanks for stopping by and linking up.
ReplyDeleteA great philosophy of life! I am very busy - but I have carefully chosen the things to be busy with! They are activities and events that I felt a big calling to become active in. Not just time wasters. That's a big difference than simply being busy for the glorification of being busy.
ReplyDeleteso true! I'm busy, too - but not in the most are busy. I'm not running here and there, but my days are full with purposeful activities. I never have "nothing to do".
