Life Through The Lens ~ Welcoming 2014

Last Friday I shared a few thoughts and photos from our vacation over New Year's, but wanted to share a few more of both with you.

I feel so incredibly blessed to live and play in such a beautiful part of our country and I never want to take that for granted. Spending the first few days of the year with my family, in a place we all love, doing the things we love to do, was a WONDERFUL way to begin the year.

Our family loves to hike, and we spent the first day of our vacation hiking along a favorite river to see some waterfalls. Even with mostly gray and cloudy skies, it was beautiful.









We also had a great time playing games, ringing in the New Year, watching movies, climbing at a local rock climbing gym and going for LONG walks.










One day in particular, the clouds were really showing off!

    Gorgeous pictures! The sky looks unreal and the water so clear! That does sound like the perfect way to enter the new year, I think.

      Thanks, Elizabeth. I have a Sony a77 and LOVE it! It's the only DLSR I've ever had so I don't know how to compare it to a Canon or Nikon. Mostly I use the Sony wide angle (SAL 1650) lens but also have a Tamron zoom (SP 70-300mm) and a Sony macro (SAL 30M28)

    Your photography is taking off by leaps and bounds. Am I right in seeing that you are beginning to play with your settings... I LOVE you river shots!! You do live in a beautiful area... someday I'm gong to be back in an area like that. But, for now, I am thrilled that I get to see this kind of beauty through your photos.

      Yes....playing with my settings and learning how shoot manually! I usually still take a shot in auto and then play with the settings so I can compare later at home.
