I'm a little later than usual with this post this week. To be honest, I was going to skip it because I didn't think I had a whole lot of pretty, happy, funny or real to share. But a quick walk through my backyard this morning proved me wrong. You might be tired of my garden by now, but it brings me so much enjoyment. I love finding new ways to capture its beauty.

For the first time in 3 years my grass is still green. I've done some minimal watering and it's kept it alive! The downside of this is that I've had to continue mowing all summer.

I'm still getting produce - green peppers, green beans, cucumbers and strawberries. I have quite a few green tomatoes so I'm looking forward to those ripening.

I'm learning a lot about gardening by trial and error. One of the things I've learned is which plants to cut back when they are done blooming so they'll bloom again....like this one.

Because I compost, I have several volunteer plants in my gardens. This tomato plant is growing out between the slats of my raised garden. 

What's really funny is that this volunteer tomato plant, in an unconventional spot is doing much better than the three I planted (see below).

Not everything in my garden is flourishing. This is what my hanging basket looks like. Sad.

We had a pretty bad wind storm last week. Between that and the weight of some of the sunflowers, quite a few are leaning over. 

I was able to save some of them by tying them to my neighbor's fence.
