Thankful Journals

I have a gratitude journal ~ a place where I keep track of all the ways He loves me. It's a list of 2800+ and grows every day. I love taking a few moments each day to remember the gifts of the day. It's been a great paradigm shift for me to intentionally give thanks each day.

Ever since the girls were little, we've made Thankful books during the month of November. It's fun to make them, but even more fun to pull them out year after year and look at them.

This is year is no different, but now that they are older and capable of writing more, we are taking a few moments at the beginning of our school day to share with each other and record what we are thankful for.

And each week I give them a new passage from Scripture to copy into their books. My hope is that like my own journal, this practice will continue long after the month of November and the desire to reflect on what they are thankful for will grow.

  1. Jill, you are brilliant. I am going to have to steal this idea. Thanks for helping me be a better mother :-)

  2. Very sweet! This is one of those 'wish I had done that' kind of moments. But it is never too late to get started, right? :)

    1. Nope - never too late to start. I bet your daughter would really benefit from keeping a gratitude journal. We start our days off by recording one thing in them, but you could also do it at night and reflect on the day.
