Everyday Beautiful

One thing I've noticed about myself lately is that I desire to surround myself with beauty. My soul desires beauty. Most often, my desire is satisfied with the beauty of God's creation. I think this is why I love hiking so much ~ it nurtures my soul in the deepest way.

But I can't hike everyday. Most days I spend my days at home, and I find such joy in finding ways to bring beauty into our home.

This time of year, it's particularly easy to grab some flowers from the garden and bring them in. I don't know if anyone else in the house appreciates it, but I do. I even make a small arrangement for my girls' room.

There are other ways, besides flowers. My daughter put together this example and it was such a joy watching her create this beautiful, simple display.

It can be in the music we listen to (I love to fill our home and car with classical music ~ symphonies, concertos, chamber music).

It can be in the way we dress ourselves (I love to wear skirts and comfortable dresses).

It can be in how we present a meal. Breakfast is a special time for my girls and I. I let them order off a menu almost every day and we have ourselves a little restaurant experience right here at home. I have a couple special teapots and I enjoy making this part of our day beautiful.

I hope this beauty nurtures their soul as it does mine. I hope they can see the beauty that surrounds them everyday.

What is your favorite way to make every day beautiful?

  1. What a great post. I have two salt rock lamps and one is at home in the living room while the other is in my office at work. They provide a nice warmth and relax me...probably because my LMT has one in the room so when I get a relaxation massage I relate the two :)
