Thankful for Clutter

It's easy to get all sentimental and thankful this time of year ~ with Thanksgiving only a couple days away, it's only natural to think of all the things we are thankful for.

Clutter is probably not high on your list of things you are thankful for. Am I right?

Normally the clutter I see on a daily basis drives me crazy, but today I am choosing to be thankful for every piece of clutter. It is proof of the many, many blessings I have in my life.

My kitchen counter, almost always cluttered with stuff that represents what is happening in our lives. Right now it is cluttered with Compassion child packets and brochures. I am so thankful I can advocate on behalf of these children.

The entrance to our home - so often cluttered with shoes and coats. I am so thankful there are others living in this home with me. I'm thankful for the shoes and coats that keep our feet and bodies warm.

My laundry room - a catch all room for any and every kind of clutter. Right now there is a pile of Christmas books from the library sitting on top of the dryer, waiting to be read once it's December. I am so thankful for little girls that love to be read to. I am thankful for our daily snuggles on the couch with good books. I am thankful for the library, where we can borrow almost any book we want to read.

Most days when I walk into my girls' room, the floor is littered with toys. I am thankful for daughters who are creative and imaginative in their play. I am thankful they play so well together.

Happy Thanksgiving from our cluttered house ~
a house full of blessings

  1. I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I often try to do this when I am being driven crazy. Just the other day, when Dh and I were being driven crazy by a particular mess that is chronic and child related, I said to him that if something were to happen to one of the kids, we would be willing to give anything to have the mess back. It does change your perspective!

  2. Your small clutter is more a blessing than a problem I am so thankful you realize that!!!!

  3. Have a nice holiday!
I'm trying to get rid of most of my stuff, as it sometimes "chokes" me, but I am thankful that I had the opportunity (i.e. health, job, money) to acquire it in the first place.
