I'm in the homestretch, but I have to take a bit of a break. I continue to work on my books and photos. I'm making progress...good progress, but don't want to post about it until it's done.
As I was going through my photos that were in a box, I looked at each one and thought, "That's nice. I'll keep it." But then I decided to lay them out and pick my favorites. These here just happen to be ones of me with my grandparents. When I had them all out, it was easy to see I didn't need them all.
BEFORE
Anyway....I'll be taking a bit of a break as I have my in-laws coming for a week. I don't think there will be much decluttering going on - unless they want a bunch of my books!
In the meantime, here is a picture of some sentimental clutter. I had a bin of clothes and blankets that were mine as a baby. I did try some of this on my own daughters when they were babies, but they never wore any of them regularly. Time to let them go.
Those little sweaters are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI've been helping a friend out with her photo decluttering this week too, so I'm in the middle of photo madness! It's been fun, although she had to resort to a glass of red wine to get through the first big purge. (I abstained, I'm not much of a drinker.)
It's interesting to see all of your grandparent photos laid out like that on the table. It's funny when everything is spread out in front you can really see how many you have. Photos is a big project. Good to see you're making forward movement on it! Now I'm going to make my friend come look at your photo before and after shot.
Cheers,
Tanja
You'd be so proud of me! I completely cleaned out my jacket closet/ linen closet today. (Oh the horrors that lied within. You DO NOT want to see a before picture) Almost everything in it went to the Salvation Army, and then I bought some cheap shelves to go in the bottom to organize my table clothes, place mats, mittens, gloves hats, cloth napkins, etc. It made me so happy!!!
ReplyDeleteYay Jessica!
ReplyDeleteThose little sweaters look handmade. You chose wisely.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, you touched on my 'hot spot'--the photos. Sigh. I get so overwhelmed looking at mine that I just ignore them. I do have a goal to finally and completely finish the photo project (culling, digitalizing) in 2011. Spring break? Summer vacation? You've given me incentive.
The photos I have in the picture are just ones of me and my one set of grandparents - and those are the pictures not in the albums. I loved looking at all of them, but I will treasure the ones I kept even more. My grandpa passed away 10 years ago and we were good buddies. My grandma is still alive and is 95 - I'm going home to see her in April and can't wait!
ReplyDelete95. Wow. How lucky you are to be able to give your grandma! And what a long life she's had. Maybe she'd like to get a small handful of the photos you're choosing not to keep? I bet they'd mean a lot to her.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Tanja
