An Album and a Birthday

Our family has a band that plays out at markets, festivals, wineries and other local events. Our busiest season is summer, but not so much this year. In fact, we went 6 months without a gig. We decided to use the time we would be performing to record our third album, and it was just released last week.

Unlike our other albums, this one has mostly original songs. The songs/tunes that are covers have our own style and arrangement, making them unique from other versions. It also features Kayleigh (our youngest daughter) as the lead vocal on two of the tracks.

Speaking of Kayleigh...this sweet girl turned 14 this week. I love watching her bloom - especially as a musician. I put a violin into her hands before she was 2, and she has continued to play. She also plays guitar, bass, mandolin and sings. She's even started writing her own songs.

My oldest daughter, Sydney, used to play in the band, but she has moved on to other things. She participated in this cd release by creating a short animation of one of the songs...written by my husband, sung by Kayleigh and animated by Sydney.
