Practicing

After we moved to Hood River and I joined the community orchestra, I started practicing my violin every day. My goal was to reach 100 days, and I did so pretty easily. I then started and completed another 100 days and then another....then I was determined to go an entire year and hit that goal in September. Not really having any good reason to stop, I continued and on Jan 23, I hit 500 days of playing my violin every day!

January 23rd is also the day we flew out to Salt Lake City and I did NOT take my violin! I think it was a well-deserved break. Now that I'm home, I'm back at it. I think the habit of practicing every day is there, and I won't get bent out of shape if I can't practice due to travel.

I usually practice in my bedroom and the other day the sun was shining and creating some pretty cool shadows on the closet doors.

In order to practice more efficiently and successfully, I got myself some new folders and a practice journal. All the bright colors make me happy.

    1. There are too many good ones to choose just one! I have favorite pieces from certain composers...a favorite Mozart concerto, a favorite Bach Sonata, a favorite Beethoven Symphony and so on...

  4. Good for you! I also believe in practice, but I have spurts and gaps in practicing. I'll bet you are quite good. Are you in any community orchestras or do you play in church or perform anywhere?

    1. I pursued music both in college and graduate school so I have 26 years invested into this journey. I am currently in the community orchestra and our family has a Celtic band that performs regularly. I do play at church occasionally.
