Tulips

We live about an hour away from a tulip farm, and each spring they open their fields to the public. I don't go every year, but do try to keep it in the regular rotation. It's breathtaking and amazing to walk through the fields and see so many varieties of tulips....impossible to choose a favorite. The weather was gorgeous the day we went - sunshine and blue skies!

Because I've been several times and each time I take hundreds of photos, I was looking for a new way to capture the beauty of the tulips this year. I  noticed the reflection of the tulips in the many puddles and began trying to capture them. I really love how some of these turned out.

  3. We were in the Netherlands one year at tulip time. You never see fields of mixed colors there because they are actually growing tulip bulbs. As soon as they flower, an inspector comes out to see they are all uniform color then they cut the flowers off to keep them from draining the bulbs. We were allowed to pick up as many cut flowers as we wanted. An amazing experience!
