Simple Beauty

taking a moment to find joy in the little things

So far July has been moving along at a slower pace than June and I'm thrilled - it feels like summer is finally here and we can enjoy some lazy days at home.  And by lazy days I mean gardening, running, washing windows and more...

My garden is making me ridiculously happy....being able to bring fresh flowers in to brighten up the house, visiting all the garden friends several times a day, and just checking daily at the progress of everything.

Regularly I look out the window to see if any hummingbirds are visiting the honeysuckle...last week I saw this robin all pugged up on the point of the arbor.

I know I'm her mom so I'm somewhat biased, but my 11 year old continues to blow me away with her artistic abilities. Her friend sent her some photos of her chickens and she decided to paint them. Then my mom sent a photo of her dog and she painted him, too. And then I sent her photos I had taken from the garden and she painted those. I love watching her because it's just so natural for her and she approaches it so differently than I would.

  1. Her paintings are amazing!! I'm in awe!

  2. Your daughter's paintings! WoW!!!

  3. She is SO talented!
Your garden is so beautiful. What a joy that must be.

  4. Don't you just love zinneas...and the blue flowers are stunning! AND that grasshopper looks like he is about to say something...great picture.

    1. that grasshopper had just been "hit" by a bee...I don't know if the bee hurt it, but they collided and the grasshopper seemed a bit mad.

  5. Oh what a beautiful collection. Your garden is so pretty!

  6. Thanks for sharing! I was just thinking this morning that I'd never seen an artichoke in bloom . . . and now I have. I hear the bees love those artichoke blooms. Bravo to your daughter on her lovely paintings!

  7. I feel the same way about July vs June. June is such a whirlwind of programs, and July is when I can finally let down a bit. Alas, it is short lived as school begins August 8. Love all these gorgeous images and those chickens are awesome!

  8. The summer is going by so quickly it seems.
Loved all those beautiful flowers, the cute little frogs and I'd say your daughter is quite a good little artist.

  9. Beautiful flowers! Your daughter is talented indeed - especially love the chickens.

  10. Such gorgeous photos! Very happy moments indeed!
