Summer

taking a moment to find joy in the little things

{pretty}
found in the neighborhood this week....

{happy}
found in the backyard this week...

I planted these trumpet vines 3 years ago in hopes they would grow and take over the ugly chain fence.
Finally they are doing what I had hoped they would do!! I have four of them and this is the biggest.

baby tomatoes!

sunflowers!

each year my girls get me a hanging basket for Mother's Day - this year's is doing so well!

I don't know what this little thing is, but I love the contrast of the bright green on bright orange

the lake is filling up with lily pads and lotus flowers

{funny}
we were published in our neighborhood magazine! Dorky but fun.

And this is funny....
I've been eagerly waiting for the release of this book. My copy came on release day and I glanced through it and put it on the bookshelf. A couple days later I got a text from a friend in California with a pic of a quote in the book - she said, "this makes me happy". I had to squint and as I read what was on the page I realized it was my quote! I don't even remember submitting it so clearly wasn't expecting to be quoted in this book.

{real}

The frogs are so fun right now! There are certain plants and flowers where they seem to congregate and I love going out and looking at them.  We have them naturally because of where we live, but my girls were also given quite a few frog egg sacs and have been keeping them in this tank (which is now full of tadpoles).

I loved this little one hiding in the petals of my roses.

  4. You have a gorgeous neighborhood and that's something I've been meaning to do, walking around the hood looking more closely. Good coordination over the lily pads. That orange flower looks like a flame, stunning.
