taking a moment to find joy in the little things

We had company over the holiday weekend - my mom and step-dad came to visit and I took advantage of their visit to get in some "touristy" activities. We visited the rose garden, rode the OHSU tram, chased some waterfalls and stopped at a couple very picturesque lookouts.

Words cannot describe how much joy I felt when my oldest daughter was baptized on Mother's Day.
pure JOY!

and it was fun hanging out with my mom on Mother's Day

Caught this girl taking selfies

And we all liked the banjo playing squirrel on the farmer's market sign.
This was our first gig of the summer and it was so much fun!

This is often what I get when I ask them to pose...

We are in the home stretch in terms of finishing up our school year! Only a few math lessons left in our books, and our state tests are scheduled for May 23. It will be nice to have a more relaxed schedule for a few months. I have many summer projects I'd like to get started on!

  1. These are all such great photos. You've got a lovely family, and I'm glad you've had a joyful mother's day.
The roses in that first photo by the way are marvelous - filled with light, rimmed with beauty!
    Thanks for sharing at

  2. Congrats on the baptism!! How wonderful.
I love the rose garden pictures, such a beautiful space to walk around.

  3. Blessings to her on her baptism!! She looks so happy!
Again those waterfalls are calling me. Someday I need to go out there and see all that beauty!!

  4. Such a great post about wonderful things! The flowers are awesome and it's wonderful that you daughter was baptized!

  5. Such a milestone with the baptism! Wishing you a well rested summer and thank you for the recommendation on Becoming Minimalist. Loving it, so far!
