Good, Random, Fun ~ Week 7

the GOOD
In 2016 I'm attempting to do #52weeksofstorytelling with a different theme each week.
Week 6/52 - Gratitude

In 2009 I started a gratitude journal - just a simple place for me to record things I'm thankful for each day. At first I thought it was silly to number and name things, but I noticed a HUGE shift in my attitude.  One of my first entries was when my girls were 2 and 4 and not the tidiest folks. I remember seeing a mess of little shoes by the front door and my instinctive reaction was to grumble and straighten them up. Instead, I took a pic of them and wrote in my journal that I was thankful for the little feet that filled those shoes.

It's been 7 years and I'm still naming, numbering and recording all the things I'm thankful for each day. Simple things like sunshine, rain, letters from our sponsored kids, cups of coffee, good books and more. These are the things that I want to remember and not take for granted.

Even the hard things...recently my dad was diagnosed with cancer, but it's early and treatable. I'm filled with gratitude that his doctor caught it early.

I truly believe we can find something to be grateful for in every situation...even the hard ones.

  2. I'm still counting too. I was recently looking back through mine, over the last three years, and it brought back some great memories.

I am glad they caught your Dad's cancer and hope his treatment is not too bad.
