taking a moment to find joy in the little things
{pretty}
Simple ornaments and decorations are definitely the most pretty in my opinion.

I love incorporating our sponsored children into our Christmas celebrations and decorations. We used to hang their photos on our tree, but we have so many other ornaments that it became too much. This year we are hanging their photos up on our world map - we choose one or two photos a day, learn a bit about where they live and then pray for them before adding them to the garland.
We started the big project of replacing all our floorboards and trim - out with the decorative oak and in with sleek white. We have finished one room so far and it looks so bright. Of course, now I want to paint the walls to brighten them up as well!
My husband and I were able to go away for the night earlier this week. He had a meeting in central Oregon and the girls were invited to a slumber party, so I got to go with him!

I looked up from our advent reading to find them melting their chocolate coins.
It's impossible to take photos of reflective ornaments without making it a selfie. I actually think these are pretty cool...especially the bottom one with the greenery reflected on the top of the ornament.

Despite my intentions to have a restful advent season, there is just so much going on. I think there is one day between now and Christmas where I have NOTHING on the calendar. I'm definitely going to need more than a two week break from school.
May all of the joys of the season be yours, and may He come to you in a special way on Christmas day!

Your decorations and the traditions with the sponsored children are beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteLovely decorations, Jill! I love simplicity. I've been admiring those dangling snowflake lights this year on other homes and wish I had bought some! I know what you mean about busy. I ended up just saying no to so many things this year. I have a twinge of regret, but also know it was what was needed at this time.
ReplyDeleteVery much enjoyed your photos! Your porch is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe garland of the children you sponsor has me thinking a lot. Enjoy the beauty of your home! God bless
ReplyDeleteJill, Thank you for linking up on Wednesday. I'm running late. You're so right about it being hard to find restful time during the Christmas season. You have captured the festivities of the holiday quite well. I love all the close ups of the decorations! I hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas and pray for God's blessings to be with you in the coming new year, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThis was a very enjoyable post! Merry Christmas!
