Weeds and Raccoons

taking a moment to find joy in the little things

{pretty}

{happy}
Oregon's most delicious weed is ripe - the blackberries are so delicious!

{funny} and {real}

We've had a duck family, a rat family and now a raccoon family visit our backyard. I'm hoping the skunks aren't next in line.

This morning we spotted a mama and three babies on the fence. Mama got down easily and quickly, but the babies were stuck for a while.

Mama's trying to see if we are a threat to her babies.

The babies finally made it down, but came down on the wrong side of the fence and were trapped in our backyard. Two dug their way out, but the third just couldn't figure out how to get through the fence. I finally had to go out and open the little gate so it could find it's way back to mama.

  2. According to my retired, rural area, sheriff's deputy friend raccoons keep away skunks. Another reason to like raccoons.

  3. All of these (as always) are great shots, but I love the racoons!!

  4. I love the purple cone flowers! (is that what they are? I hope so or else I've just made a fool of myself. Oops.) And the blackberries! I miss blackberries. The place I grew up had several huge thickets and we would make ourselves sick on them. Miss that.

    I host a Photo Friday link-up each week - would love to have you join us!

    Stopping by from Image-in-ing!

  6. Mama raccoon was also trying to figure out how to get into your garbage can to feed her three babies :)
    You have a great eye for photographing close ups--beautiful!

  8. Your photos make me actually like racoons. I do think they are cute, we've lost too many chickens in the past to like them too much.
    The flower pics are beautiful!

  9. Great shots. The raccoons are cute, but I hope they don't get into your garbage-then they are pests.

  10. Cute pictures! We had a pack of raccoons visiting our yard nightly for a while (because my husband was feeding them cat food!?!). They were really cute, especially the babies. A little too cute really. After a while my husband really thought they were his friends and attempted to feed one out of his hand. Well, a dozen rabies shots later and he keeps his distance from our adorable friends now :)
