Everyday Beauty

taking a moment to find joy in the little things

{pretty}
sometimes you find beauty as you walk through a shop

sometimes it's in your backyard when you are out watering

{happy}
sometimes happy hits you when you are walking down the street

other times it's when you look out your window

{funny}
funny can hit anytime too...when you turn around because your daughter says, "mom..."

or you are getting ready to throw away some trash

or you find gigantic zucchini being given away for free
top - from a neighbor's garden, botttom - from my garden

{real}
We haven't had rain for months now - maybe a few drops here and there, but not the rain we are used to. The only green parts of my yard are the edges that get watered when the garden gets watered, and the weeds that seem to grow regardless of mositure. I don't know why, but dead grass bothers me so much, yet I can't bear to spend so much money watering it. I get so conflicted.

  2. Those first photos are stunning! And yeah, it's so hard to believe you have such a drought when we've been having the opposite issue. I wish we could share!

  4. gorgeous shots!! and that hummingbird!!!! outstanding.
    we've had quite a bit of rain here. and most days seem to be cloudy, even if they don't rain. it's not great if you want to take a trip to the beach. but yes, my gardens and lawns look great.

  5. Wonderful post. So many great images. I really enjoyed them all. I can so relate to the hot/dry summer. I've watered our lawn enough that it's still fairly green. Dry lawns can be fire hazards so we water for safety as well.

  6. I really like your shop pictures! Sometimes that is the most pleasant thing - to walk slowly around a shop full of pretty things.

  10. Such beauty in those first images. I love the sun flare shot! So sorry about the rain situation. I would share if I could. Dead grass bothers me too, but the one year we had a severe drought and watered our lawn, the water bills made us never ever do that again. I hope you get some much need, free water soon.

  12. Beautiful photos. At least your brown grass means you're saving water. It will come back green again. I'm still looking for the perfect weed that works as grass and never needs watering.
