Hello January

taking a moment to find joy in the little things

The new year has started out well. I've set a few goals to help me live more intentionally and chosen a word to bring focus to my life. I know that most resolutions don't stick, but I do find that setting some goals helps me remember how I want to spend my time and live my life well.

{pretty}
We had a cold snap here and when it lasts more than a couple days, it can mean frozen waterfalls. We took an hour to visit the one closest to us last week and it was so pretty!

{happy}
We welcomed the new year by sledding with some friends up around the mountain (Mt. Hood). The kids had fun and I was thrilled to be able to walk around without ankle pain.

such a nice setting for sledding, don't you agree?

{funny}
We are having so much fun with our bunnies. They are so cute and cuddly and are pretty willing participants when we want to do silly things like put glasses on them!

{real}
I'm starting out the year with a trip to Nicaragua in just a couple weeks. I've been busy shopping for gifts for my Compassion kids, brushing up on my Spanish and making gifts (see below) for the women we'll be ministering to. I'm so excited, but it's never easy to leave my family behind.  This time I'm traveling with my mom and some dear family friends, so I'm excited about that.

and then there's this...

  1. Those waterfalls with ice are amazing! Looks like some lovely time enjoying the snow as well. We are just straight up cold with sun here today!

  2. Love the frozen waterfalls! My sister and her family went to Multnomah Falls over the weekend and my 4 year old nephew wanted to know if Elsa froze the falls!

  5. wow, those first pictures look very cold, pretty but brrrrr! I would have never guessed that rabbits would be more cooperative than say, cats - but my bunch would have none of this. Cute!
