May Day

taking a moment to find joy in the little things

{pretty}
We had the opportunity to go to central Oregon for a long weekend. It's our favorite getaway and we got to spend time with several other couples from our church. Although the weather was frigid, we had a nice time. On our last day, the skies were blue and clear and we had great views of the mountains.

and since it's May Day...here are some flowers for you!
the tulips are almost done

lupine is starting to bloom

and the chives are flowering now

{happy}
We are having some pretty fantastic weather this week...sunny and warm! Getting outside is a must. See that beautiful rhododendron bush? I love it when it blooms! I'm so happy it survived the ice storm we had in February. I wasn't sure how it would affect the blooms this year.

Here's a closer look....

These two are really the best of friends lately.
They make up stories and games and spend hours upon hours together.

Thanks to a Barnes & Noble gift card, I have a pile of good books waiting to be read!

{funny}
Usually homeschooling looks like this....

but sometimes it looks like this....math in the midst of laundry

{real}
I got my annual delivery of dirt and mulch. I love the fact that it's time for gardening, but it's also overwhelming. I always have so many plans, but I can hardly keep up with the bare minimum when it comes to the yard.

  8. I love all of this photos, but I especially love that photo of your two girl walking down the path. I don't know why, but photography my children walking in front of me is one of my favorite ways to capture them.

    I can't wait for our chives to bloom so I can try and capture them like you did. Brilliant!

    1. It feels like most photos I have of my girls walking or hiking are from behind...I guess that means I'm usually bringing up the rear!

  10. I'm incredibly jealous of your tulips. Head on over to my PHFR post to see my tulips. Except I took the picture before the bunnies showed up this morning. Sadly.
