Back to Normal

taking a moment to find joy in the little things

{pretty}
We had some very unexpected and unusual weather this past weekend...snow and then ice. It sure did make for some pretty pictures. It's amazing how anything other than rain during the winter can really lift the spirits and change your attitude. Sometimes it's a little sun....sometimes it's a little snow. It's all good and welcome if it means a break from the rain.

{happy}
My girls were so happy to have snow right here in our back yard. Normally we have to drive and hour to the mountains, but this weekend they could just go outside and play. They had a blast and loved having a couple snow days off school.

This was taken when it had just started snowing. We ended up getting several inches - enough to really play in.

{funny}
Despite the many wintry, snowy locations we've lived, we no longer own any snow shovels. This was the best I could do to clear our front walk way. Not quite as efficient as a real snow shovel, but it got the job done. You know how some people hold on to things "just in case I might need it someday..." Well, someday happened and we needed it last week but didn't have it. We survived. We improvised.

{real}
Our mini-vacation is over and it's back to school. I'm feeling the pressure to get a lot done in the next month. Our trip to Thailand is sure to throw us off - especially getting back and getting over jet-lag. So we are working hard to get as much learning done as we can.

  5. Jill, our son and his family live in Vancouver (we're up the I-5 in Seattle). Portland got pretty much deluged with snow.....but it looks like you made the most of it. Lovely photos--the iced up fence, in particular.

    1. Thank you....

      And now we seem to be suffering the after affects - like landslides in the gorge and flood warnings!

  6. Relax.
    Let go, let God.
    Don't try to fill the bucket so you can cross something off a list. The whole trip to Thailand will be a kindling of the fire of learning.
