Nature in the Home for the Holidays

For the first time ever I am using nature to add festive touches to our home. And I'm loving it!

I love the way it looks. I have loved collecting pine cones and fallen branches when we are out hiking or on our daily walks. I love being creative and finding ways to incorporate it into our home decor. I love how simple it is. And most of all....I will love not having to store it for 11 months of the year. I can recycle it all and start again next year (because I love collecting it!)

Lou over at littlegreenshed has given us weekly "assignments" and this week was to create a center piece (except she's from the UK so she spells it fancy .... centre piece)

In the middle of our table sits our advent wreath....the cradle to cross wreath I got last year. I love the simplicity of it. This year I added touches of evergreens and love how it looks.

And here are a few other examples of what I've been doing...

Finally, I showed you one advent calendar (the wreath above), but we have two more. And Lou of littlegreehshed is also hosting an advent calendar link up.

The first is from my childhood....made by a friend for our family. My brother and I would take turns putting on an ornament each day and now my two girls do the same!

The second is something I made to use with our giving calendar this year. Again, the girls alternate opening the envelopes.

I'm linking up with littlegreenshed
