{p,h,f,r} and Life Through the Lens

taking a moment to capture contentment and joy in every day life

{pretty}
This past weekend we had absolutely beautiful weather so we headed west, to the coast. With clear, blue, sunny skies, our day at the beach was perfect and a rare treat.

And this time of year is my favorite time of year for my garden. I love to go out several times a day and see what I might find to photograph.

{happy}
It's too cold to swim, but we had fun jumping the waves, building sand castles, going for walks, playing guitar and singing.

Meanwhile, back in my garden....I was so happy to spot this guy again. I'm sure this is one of the ones we hatched earlier this summer and we've seen him several times but always at different stages in his growth.

I'm also very happy to be teaming up with Yvonne from Our Little Corner of the World to host a new photography link-up. Each week we'll announce a theme and you have all week to hunt for and take photos that fit the theme. You can read more about it HERE. Our theme for this week is green and we'd love to have you join us next Tuesday!

{funny}
And now back at the beach....I tried to recreate a crab out of parts I found laying around. When I showed my kids, they promptly stomped on it.

{real}
I can hardly believe it, but it's true....I have a 2nd grader and a 3rd grader this year. We are back at school and so far all is going well. Of course, it's only been 2 days. If only I could bottle some of this creative energy and eagerness to learn.

    1. She's not really playing...just trying. I think both girls will eventually pick it up and learn.

    1. Thanks. We were actually at two different beaches that day...one that was long and sandy, and another that had a pretty rocky coastline (which is common here in these parts). The rocky one had all sorts of caves to explore and some tide pools....it was also very crowded!

  3. Poor dead shell of a crab, lol.

    I love the beach. We don't live to far from the coast here, but it can be a hard drive since we have to meander around mountains to get there. Better plan another trip before the winter comes though!

    1. We have to drive through the mountains, too... it's about a 2 hour drive when all is said and done, but it's worth doing a couple times a year.

  4. Jumping the waves, our favorite pass time at the ocean. Someday I wish we lived closer to the beach. I need to find a place to live that has mountains and beach lands. Your girls are gorgeous, best wishes for school this year. Oh, and FYI, so excited about your new link-up :-).
