The Big Mess of Simplifying

Let's face it...sometimes when we try to simplify, we end up making a big mess. Today was like that. I wanted to organize and simplify our school stuff since going back to school is on the horizon for us.

It all started with the new desks we bought at IKEA yesterday. After assembling them and setting them up I realized how much we could get rid of....a bookshelf, a coffee table, a desk, a small table and chairs, a double drawer system and various other things.

In the process of emptying drawers and cabinets, we made a BIG mess. Thankfully I'm one of those weird people that has to clean up the big mess the same day, so the mess has already come and gone.

But I was reminded of how sometimes we have to go through the mess - the uncomfortable - the unknown - to get to what we really want. Even when it comes to simplifying.

We want to simplify to get rid of the chaos. But the simplifying itself can cause some chaos. I went through my mess one item at a time today and eventually got through it all.

One item - one step at a time - we can get there.

    1. ha ha! I'm a bit of a neat freak and am married to a neat freak so our house is never very messy...except when I'm trying to organize or simplify!
