{pretty, happy, funny, real}

taking a moment to capture contentment and joy in every day life

{pretty}
Without my good camera, I'm mostly using my iphone these days and many of those photos ended up on my instagram account.

{happy}
We had Compassion Sunday at our church this past week! Since child sponsorship through Compassion is such an important part of our lives, it's a joy to share this with our church family.

Because the focus of the service was on children around the world, my girls and I were asked to play a violin trio. Anytime I get to play with my girls I am one happy momma!

{funny}

This is how I shade my lettuce on hot days. I bought the frame so my cucumbers would grow up it, creating shade for my lettuce, but the cucumbers aren't growing very quickly! I've had several people comment on the cute "fort" in my backyard.

This is Pansy...our "pet" duck. We live next to a pond / swamp of sorts and this duck made the unfortunate decision to build her nest on the side that backs up to our yard.

I say unfortunate because the girls have adopted Pansy and her mate (Fern) as pets. They have been collecting fluff to make a softer nest for Pansy. They even spread rose petals around it to make it more beautiful.

{real}
I made a strawberry rhubarb pie this week. That should fall under happy, because homemade pie makes me very happy!

But I'm putting it here under {real} because this is what my kitchen looks like whenever I'm done baking. Every inch of counter is used....every cupboard is left open....and every drawer I pulled out is still pulled out.

Thankful for this little one who loves to help me and loves to do what I'm doing!

  1. I'm so impressed by your lettuce/garden. Good idea with the tent! And I loved hearing your girls play! Reminds me of my childhood- we often played as a family growing up (although my dad is more talented- on the guitar, harmonica, and mandolin than I will ever be!! :)

    1. Thank you! Every year I learn more and more about gardening. I also "tent" my broccoli and cauliflower.

    1. Thank you!

      Do you sponsor a child? If so, where? My passion is getting families involved in the sponsorship experience...I have a blog geared towards that called Compassion Family (if you are interested.)

  3. I love the kitchen pictures - mine looks exactly like that when I get to work. I try harder but it's just not me, I save all the clean-up for the end :)
