taking a moment to capture contentment and joy in every day life
All the photos this week are taken in my backyard garden. My favorite thing to do each day is walk around the yard and see the daily changes. When we bought this house 3 years ago there was nothing in the backyard. I've slowly added perennials and we have 4 raised garden beds.

Nothing makes me happier than to grow our own food. This year we have four types of lettuce, peppers, cucumbers. strawberries, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, zucchini, squash, raspberries and a beautiful herb garden.
Thanks to pinterest, I've added an arch between the two raised beds on which I'm attempting to grow clematis and honeysuckle. I've also added this frame for the cucumbers to grow up on - the idea is to keep the lettuce cool and the cucumbers hot.

The carrot crop is going to be small.

And it appears I am growing bite-sized cauliflower. It's stayed at this size for 3 weeks now, so I'm not hopeful that we'll have a big crop.

My backyard is full of clover. I don't mind clover that much. I think it's pretty. It's green and lush and grows well. The problem with it is the bees it attracts. No matter how often I mow, the flowers manage to grow and attract the bees. And every year my girls manage to get stung simply walking through the backyard. Usually they wear their rain boots, but the one time they forget and don't, they are likely to get stung.

Beautiful food! I'm doing a very small veggie garden for the very first time this year, so I'm enjoying seeing how others make their gardens grow. :) Have a great day!
