Walk Around the Neighborhood

Usually in our family weekends are for hiking, but this weekend we didn't stray far from home. We have grandparents visiting and Saturday morning hubby and I ran in a 10k race. Our hiking legs were spent.

However, unless it's pouring down rain, I like to get outside on weekends and today was no exception. We went for a walk around our neighborhood. Usually when I go around our neighborhood I'm running and don't have my camera with me, but today I had it and found quite a few interesting things to take photos of.

My apologies if this is becoming a bit of a photo blog. I just can't help myself. Slowing down to take photos of the beauty around me is just becoming part of who I am...part of my rhythm.

You can't really tell from this photo, but this dahlia is huge.

I love these heart shaped leaves. I have been fascinated by them for months now, always wishing I had my camera with me. Today I was pleased to see that some were turning yellow, making them a bit more interesting to photograph.

  1. I enjoy the pictures. Never in my life have I seen anything like the top photo! What is it?? It is beautiful, but it doesn't look real!

  2. Meg, I don't know what it is...I have never seen it either. It was waxy and hard. I need to do some research and see if I can figure out what it is.

  5. Those gorgeous red star-shaped flowers with the blue centers had me intrigued! It might be what is called "Harlequin Glorybower" (Clerodendrum trichotomum). Check it out online & let me know if that is what the tree looked like.
