Boot Camp - Day 30

If you are one who notices details, it appears I've skipped a day.

I haven't...I mis-numbered somewhere in the middle.

So here we are at the end of the 30 day Boot Camp and the final topic is LIFE.

For this, Tanja suggests sitting down and writing out a master plan. We did this one day 1, but it was for decluttering. This time it is for how you want your life to look.

Who is Jill?

  1. wife
  2. homeschooling mom
  3. violinist
  4. Compassion sponsor and advocate
  5. daughter, granddaughter, friend
In that list, numbers 1, 2 and 5 take most of my time. Number 4 is also very important to me, and during this boot camp I did a bit of life decluttering in this area so that I could concentrate even more on numbers 1, 2 and 5. I gave up my leadership role as a coach for Compassion. This decision was so hard to make, but I knew it was the right one. Right now there is not a lot of time for number 3 in my life. However, I have a small violin studio (including my two daughters!) and play monthly at a senior home. It's enough.

I think the focus of this final day of boot camp is the most important. As I have decluttered my material possessions, I have regularly thought about my life and whether or not there is anything I do that is unnecessary (writing on this blog?). When I think of something, I ask myself if there is someone else who can do it, and I often let them. I want to pour my time and energy into the things that matter to me and my family.

  1. I'm sorry that you had to give up your leadership role for Compassion but I totally understand. I just gave us my position as fellowship coordinator at our church and I feel badly about it because it leaves our ministers in the lurch. On the other hand, I have been feeling so time crunched and that often ends up with my being short with my children and I don't want to let that happen. You are a wise woman!

  2. Woohoo! Go Jill!

You've hit on one of the keys to life: you can't do everything.

The trick is to find the things that matter most to you, and go after them with everything you've got.

Easier said than done I know, but you're on your way!

  3. I'm still an advocate (and sponsor) which is the most important part to me. I'm simply looking for ways to involve my family in the ministry with me (thus my new blog....www.compassionfamily.blogspot.com)
