Boot Camp - Day 11

I goofed and posted this early, so you get an extra one today. (This is supposed to be Day 16).

Kitchen Gadgets

First of all, let me start by admitting that I did not follow the instructions or guidelines for this. In her book, Tanja suggests taking every kitchen gadget out and laying them all out on a flat surface. I decided to concentrate on the utensils, since that's where I need the most help.

BEFORE

I failed to snap a picture of the second drawer before.

Here they are, all spread out

AFTER

I know, I know...it's still a lot, but I honestly use it all. I do have multiple scrapers and multiple wooden spoons...but I have two daughters and when we cook together, it helps keep the peace if they each have their own. In the drawer above, I realized that in my attempt to organize, perhaps the organizing units had become clutter....so I got rid of them!

and here is my pile of cast-offs

  1. Can I just say that I am in awe of how organized you are being with your posts - all in correct order. My Bootcamp updates are completely haphazard.

The drawers look good - every little bit helps. In fact, all of your progress is inspiring.

  2. My posts my be in order (I skipped books for now), but my actual decluttering is all over the place! I see something I can get rid of and have had to hold myself back. I'm trying to stay focused and finish a mission before moving on to the next.

I've decluttered so many times in the past 5 years, but this is the first time I've followed a strict plan like Tanja's.

  3. I have a lot in my utensil drawer too-a lot of big cooking/serving spoons, but when I'm in the mood to cook a big meal and on holidays I use every one of those spoons so they stay. And I have 3 daughters & I hear ya on the keeping peace in the kitchen part of it! LOL

  4. My mom says I am strict and that she can't follow all of it! Awww. I never meant to be a tyrant. :)

You make the rules Jill, not me! And hey, keeping the stuff you love, and the stuff that is completely functional is what it's all about. I love your kitchen gadget shots and I'm excited you found a few to get rid of in such an important zone.
