This past summer, one of the things I wanted to do was to subscribe to Lightroom and learn how to edit my photos. Other than a brightness or shapening adjustment that I can do in my basic photo program, I haven't played around with editing much. Part of me wanted to be able to take fabulous, straight out of the camera shots, and part of me just didn't want to spend the time to learn to edit. Well, the summer came and went and I never got around to it at all.
However, a couple weeks ago I was inspired to try a new phone app called Mextures. I still have so much to learn, but it's been fun working on a few photos and seeing how a few edits can really change a photo.
I'd love to know your thoughts about editing...and if you have any tips to share, I'd welcome them.

Gorgeous! I am becoming more into editing...52 Frames has taught me how to really take if from SOOC to perfection!
ReplyDeleteI especially like the tall trees in the snow.
ReplyDeleteFirst and foremost I like the challenge of making the camera work it's magic when I press the button; honing my skills; and sharing what I saw through the lens.
I do really like photo editing for cropping, adding text, collages, framing etc. of the original photo.
Occasionally I do like to play with the 'fun stuff' and I very much enjoy seeing the art others create post 'snap' too.
I love that you are starting to experiment with editing your photos! I was in the camp of not wanting to edit my photos either. Then when I saw what a little bit of editing could do to my photos, I was amazed! I love using Lightroom for my good camera photos, but for my iPhone, Snapseed is my favorite editing app. And as always, I love your photos!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the before edits. The after edits don't look real to me. I only edit to crop and level but I'm not into photography the way you are.
ReplyDeleteI always edit my photos. Usually I increase sharpness and often I will crop them to bring better balance.
ReplyDeleteFun, I used to be a strict no-edited, save for some red eye reduction but it's been fun to see it as a different form of art from pure photography :) Is the building at Univ. Of Virginia? I think your shots are gorgeous and the winter wonderland photo reminds me of VT
ReplyDeleteYes - the building is UVA. I was there visiting my brother recently.
