Giving Thanks

In 2008 I made a simple Thankful book with and for my girls during the month of November. The next year (2009) they each made (scribbled) one, and again in 2010, and again in 2011... you get the idea.

It's become our tradition to take a few moments each day in November to write down something we are thankful for. The best part of all this, though, is pulling out the stash of past years and looking through them. We do this on the first day of November and then decide how we are going to record our gratitude for the current year. One year we wrote on index cards, punched holes in the corner and added a ring to bind them. Another year we used composition notebooks.

This year I found these blank journal books, and we are spending the first minutes of school each morning to record what we are thankful for.

We each have our own method of journaling, but that's what makes it fun. Often we share with each other what we have written and drawn.

  1. Love that idea year round. My husband I started writing ten or more things that we are grateful for every day. May I ask where you purchased your blank journal?

    1. I got these on clearance at Michaels. I've looked for more, but can't seem to find them anywhere - not even on line.
