Life is Full

taking a moment to find joy in the little things

a glimpse of the ocean....

backyard guests....

Neither of these are great pics, but I love seeing the hummingbirds in my garden.

our rabbits love getting out of the cage and hopping around in the grass

This is my {funny} of the week...
I looked out the window and saw my daughter holding a duck!

a beautiful cinnabar moth

my reaction to spotting this was probably {funny}...
I was looking in my herb garden for a praying mantis and suddenly saw this HUGE dragonfly.
When they are this big they are a little creepy, but it stayed around and let me photograph it.

This seems to be the only praying mantis I see regularly, and it lives in this fern.

We still have LOTS of frogs...they really seem to love these yellow flowers.

for the most part my garden is doing well...

the corn is not going to be "knee high by the 4th of July"

and right now the broccoli wouldn't feed even a toddler

this is chocolate mint and I've pulled it out so many times.
I don't use it for anything, but it is pretty so I'm keeping it for now.

My snapdragons are looking rather sad...they were so full and beautiful and then just dried up. I'm thinking of just pulling them and planting something else there because I can't stand to look out my kitchen window and see this.

  1. Your photos never fail to make me jealous - they're always lovely!
    Thanks for sharing at

  2. I loved all your pictures of the insects. That moth has striking coloring.

  3. My grandma always said it's good to have a dead plant around so on a really bad day you can pitch it in the trash and somehow you just end up feeling a little better. Your snapdragon is the perfect "pull and throw on a bad day" plant. Very real indeed.
