Utah

Last week we traveled to Utah as a family - our spring break. One of the advantages of homeschooling is going on vacation during off season and avoiding all the crowds. Our main destination was Arches National Park in Moab, but we also enjoyed time in Boise, ID and Salt Lake City, UT. We saw so many wonderful things, and it was very hard to narrow down which photos to share.

We did so much walking and exploring, and like I said before, we were often the only ones there.

because every water fountain should also provide a kiwi snack

I know some people truly cannot tolerate gluten, but being "mostly gluten free" seems like a trend and it's funny to us. We've been known to leave a bakery that boasted of gluten free products empty handed saying, "We like gluten." So we thought this t-shirt was funny.

For some reason there were a lot of geese on the rooftops in Boise, ID. We even saw an owl (but I didn't have my camera with me).

At every crosswalk in Salt Lake City there were orange flags that you could pick up and carry across. It's a good idea, don't get me wrong, but also funny since we aren't used to them.

Leave it to my kid to ignore the ladder and find a different way up.

I don't have a front door today. It's nice to hear the birds singing, but it's a wee bit chilly in my house - especially in this front room (which is where we do school!) The reason for no front door - we are getting it and the rest of the house painted!

  1. We loved homeschooling for the off-season vacations too. My husband was in the Marines so we could go anytime he could get off. We loved autumn vacations, September/October; crowds are minimal, weather is gorgeous and the colors just beginning to change. (in the north at least) Then he retired and became a school teacher and we're on the same schedule as every everyone else. Oh well, just a few more years and he'll retire for good and we can choose the off-season again. Just the two of us since all the children are grown (and almost gone).

  2. I cannot get over how stunning that part of the country is! I saw an ad for all the Utah parks today and between your gorgeous pictures and that ad I am so hoping to get there!

    And that shirt - ha!
