Black and White Wednesday

This week, the thoughts swirling around my head have to do with priorities. If you asked me what my priorities are I would probably include playing my violin daily and exercise. Yet I rarely get to those things these days. Why? Because I don't prioritize them.

The only way to truly determine your true priorities is to track your time. If I were honest in how I spend my time, it would probably show that checking my email and instagram accounts are my priorities.

Once a week I'm making an effort to get out and go walking with my camera in hand. (these photos are from my most recent walk). Why? Because searching for and capturing beauty is important to me - it nurtures me.

So does playing my violin. Just yesterday I ran across a new idea that I'm putting into practice this week. If I remember, I'll share more about it and my experience with it. It worked wonderfully today, but I'd like to give it more than one day before I sing its praises.

  1. Good for you for making these a priority! I'm trying to get out with my camera, too!

  2. Jill, what interesting subjects you choose to share. I must say I really like the close up of the chain links. I'm assuming it's some kind of fence. Learning to prioritize daily tasks help to make one feel more accomplished. The best of luck with your new routine! This is something I'm a work in progress in this department myself, but I feel better for keeping to it when I can. Have a fototastic week and thanks for dropping in today!

  3. I know that getting out to actually LOOK at things and catch them on camera is so good for the gratitude. You see so many wonderful things!

  4. I don't know about you, but part of the problem I had with making my true passions my priority (I mean, beyond family of course) was that other people placed judgement on my interests. The things that were important for me, as an individual who is more than just a mother/wife. Writing was a waste of time. Photography was a waste of time. UNLESS - you are getting paid for it. Then one day I realized those negative ideas were in turn infecting how I felt about my passions. My passions are not about a dollar value: as you have lovingly stated: they nourish me. And that's enough. Then I reclaimed and tell people to go stuff it! LOL
    Beautiful photos!
