Savoring Summer

taking a moment to find joy in the little things

{pretty}
A quick walk around the neighborhood filled my camera roll with beauty...

{happy}
Now that all our summer trips and activities are officially over, we can get to some of those things on our summer bucket list. (we don't really have a list, but there are several things the girls have been wanting to do...) They had a very successful lemonade and cookie stand this week....sold out of cookies and potholders! We had some very generous neighbors who gave some pretty good tips!

And here is a glimpse at the current display in our front garden. As my daughter and I were setting it up, several neighbors walked by and commented on how much they enjoy our creations. One man was walking his dog and talking on his phone, but he stopped to thank us for bringing a smile to his face every day when he walks by.

{funny}
For some odd reason my husband felt the need to play fruit ninja in real life at our house this week. He really wanted to cut something open with his sword and the zucchini I gave him just didn't satisfy his urge, so he took to the watermelon.

It's been a couple days now, and I'm still finding watermelon juice splattered on the wall, cabinets and floor.

 The August fairy has arrived and has left me daily notes and chocolate! Even the bunny got in on the action!

{real}
Homeschool planning for the 2015-16 school year has begun in earnest in these parts. I haven't set an official start date yet, but I think it will Sept 8 - right after Labor Day.

{awesome}
Can I just give a shout out to school supplies? In some ways it feels like the most wonderful time of the year because of all the good deals. I'm trying really hard to exercise some self-control and not over buy, but I couldn't pass up the colorful multi-pack of post-it notes. We were completely out and now we have enough for the next 3 years (or more!)

  3. Oh, I love stationery, too! I very reluctantly put back on the shelf this afternoon rolls of neon-color Post-It tape. I was so tempted, but I reminded myself that I still have loads of Post-Its at home. Yay for self-restraint (because that does not happen often enough!).

  8. That was fun. So many pretty flowers in your neighborhood. I really loved the shot of the colorful leaves with the bokeh. How fun to have a Lemonade stand. They looked so cute there.
    Oh my a Ninja fruit cutter. I can't stand the smell of watermelon or the taste so it's a good thing he lives at your house.
    Enjoy the birthday and the start of school. Here it begins next week.

  9. What beautiful photos! I would have loved to have visited that lemonade stand and purchased a potholder ~ so fun. Your garden display is wonderful as are all your photos. I had plans to work on my skills a bit last month but it didn't happen. There is always fall right? Happy belated Birthday and prayers for a great school year!
