Northern Washington and Victoria, BC

taking a moment to find joy in the little things

{pretty}
We visited Butchart Gardens in Victoria, BC and they were breathtaking.
I took so many photos! It's hard to capture the beauty of this place, so I'll just share a few of my favorites.

There are five main gardens:
the Sunken garden (an old limestone quarry), the Rose garden,
the Japanese garden, the Italian garden and the Mediterranean garden
from the Italian garden

from the Japanese Garden

{happy}
We had grandparents visiting from Illinois which is why we took this trip. We stayed near the Olympic mountains and drove into Hurricane Ridge - WOW! It was gorgeous.

On our way back to the house, we saw 7 male elk in a field. So cool.

{funny}
This is probably more pretty than funny but even the garbage cans at the
Butchart Gardens were pretty. I think all garbage cans should be mini gardens.

{real}
I always feel slightly overwhelmed when I return from trips. I thrive on routine and there has been nothing routine about my life lately - nor do I see much routine in the weeks ahead. I'll just keep plodding through and enjoying the adventures and moments as they come.

  7. Wonderful, wonderful photos! I like routine, too. On the few occasions that we've taken extensive vacations by the time we got home I was more than glad to fall back into the norm. lol The weekends now get jumbled up, so by the time Monday rolls around I'm ready for structure to my day. Have a fabulous 4th and thanks for linking up!

    Happy Birthday, America #WW

  12. Vacation can be hard for me too - a lot of over-stimulation. I love summer but when I have to choose a favorite season it is fall, partly for the beauty and often warm days, cool nights here in Washington but also for the routine it brings back. Thanks for reminding me to strive to enjoy the moments as they come. Beautiful pictures as always : )
