Words...

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight,
O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer,
Psalm 19:14

What we say matters. The words we choose when we are talking matter. Whether we are describing something, promising to do something or simply talking to another person...we need to use words that are kind, honest or necessary.

Sometimes we throw words around flippantly and the words lose their meaning.

How about the word AWESOME.

We use it to describe our lunch or a movie we just saw. The Bible uses it to describe God and his deeds - the Creator of the Universe.

Do not be terrified by them, for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a great and awesome God. Deuteronomy 7:21
Come and see what God has done, his awesome deeds for mankind! Psalm 66:5
Go ahead...go to BibleGateway and put in the word awesome and read the results.

I'm trying hard to teach my girls (and model to them) a kind, honest and necessary use of words. To say what I mean and mean what I say.

My prayer is that my words would be pleasing to God in all situations.

  4. I pray this verse often as our words can do such good or harm. It is incredible how difficult they can be to control at times. I'm so thankful for the Holy Spirit who helps us. Thank you for the post - love the pics!
