Sunflowers, more than any other flower I can think of, tend to turn and bloom with their "face" to the sun. I've planted sunflowers along my fence for the past four years now, and without fail, the sunflowers stretch up over the fence and face east towards my neighbor's yard.
I once saw a poster that said something like...we bloom more fully when we are facing the Son.
It had a field of sunflowers on it and it was playing on the words sun and Son. But there really is truth in that. Like a sunflower needs to face the sun to bloom fully and beautifully, I need to face the Son in order to bloom and become the person He created me to be.
It might be a bit cheesy and simplified, but it's true.
I walked around a sunflower field this past weekend and was amazed at how many different varieties of sunflowers there were. Just like people are all different. Yet with the right amount of Son in our lives, we can bloom.
There is so much pain and injustice and suffering happening in our world right now. The best way I know to keep my face towards the Son is to dig into His Word and pray.

I used to drive by a church that changed its sign regularly. My favorite ever since I first saw it says, "Bloom where you are planted." Your post today reminded me of that saying.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that saying, too....
DeleteJill, I just loved this post. Beautiful photos but the message really spoke to my heart. Blessings. xoxo
ReplyDeleteSo true, we are all different and all loved by the Son.
ReplyDeleteYet we are in different stages...just beautiful!
Keeping my face towards the Son, that's where I want to be focused. Beautiful encouragement today!
