Flowers and Music

taking a moment to find joy in the little things

{pretty}
Every time I walk around the neighborhood (so pretty much every day), I discover new beauties blooming. It's such a lovely time of year, and I can't seem to get enough.

{happy}
I really like that we are a violin sort of family...as hard as it is, I love teaching my girls how to play. I love how it's become part of our every day lives and we can share this experience together. It also makes me happy to find new ways to photograph and capture my love of the violin. Here are some shots from this past week.

{funny and real}
My girls are CRAZY about Frozen right now....CRAZY. They walk around in capes singing...they throw their arms to the sides and up "freezing" things...they sing duets while doing math...they argue over who gets to be Elsa...they sing the songs ALL.THE.TIME....they beg to watch the movie...they beg to watch the song videos on YouTube....they sing...

The other night I went for a walk with my oldest. She wanted to go with me simply so she could sing and be Elsa without her younger sister getting mad at her. Here she is "letting it go"...

Yes...she's wearing mis-matched socks. Yes..she's wearing boy shorts. Yes...she's wearing boy shoes. That's my girl for ya!

Late on the same walk I saw a red fence and wanted to try getting a jump shot like I've seen on instagram. My model wasn't the most willing participant. I did not end up with an epic, artistic shot but did get a good laugh out of the results!

    1. It's crazy how catching the tunes are and how hugely popular this movie is...I don't remember any other Disney movie being such a big hit.

  4. Beautiful images! It seems everyone is crazy about Frozen right now. I almost hate to admit that I have not seen it. The violin is such a beautiful image, I've always been a fan, however I don't know how to play.

    1. I doubt I would have seen Frozen if I'd not had young girls. I took my youngest over New Years and then when the dvd came out we got it for the girls. They love the story.

      I think violins are beautiful, too. I used to keep mine inside the case, but now I set it out and it makes a beautiful decoration. It also makes it easier to just pick it up and play a bit if it's already sitting out.

  5. Gorgeous flowers! I love the irises. My girls also wear mismatched socks. It's some kind of fashion statement maybe because they do it on purpose.

    1. I know some kids mix and match their socks on purpose. My girl was just too lazy to find the matching sock...

  6. Love the poses :) I've heard mixed things about the Frozen stuff and am curious what you think about the message...I know almost nothing about it. All I know is I'm sort of glad the boys have no idea what it is :)

    2. Oh, wow...I didn't even realize there was talk of a homosexual agenda. I had heard murmurings about looking down on the fairy tales of past and their ideal of marriage (something about you can't marry someone you don't know) and the parts of the song I've heard "no right no wrong for me, now I'm free" definitely rub me the wrong way. But, like I said, I'm totally unfamiliar with anything other than that and not really that interested in investing the time to find out more since it just doesn't affect us. It definitely seems to be all the rage among the young girls I see!
