1. My day and weekend are shaping up to be completely different than I originally planned. I thought I would be busy with a conference all weekend, but instead find myself at home because of snow.
2. I'm hoping that with the gift of all this extra time I will get some reading done and even get a head start on some projects I've got sitting around. Doubtful, but I can dream.
3. Snow calls for homemade soup and bread. Gonna make both today.
4. I'm not loving my latest haircut. In fact, I haven't loved any of my haircuts in the past year. I think it's time to find a new stylist.
5. Just finished reading A Million Little Ways by Emily Freeman. It's a really good book. I loved this quote...
"Be faithful to plan. Release the growing to God. Open up clenched fists and let the seeds drop into the ground, let them burrow down deep and do their secret work in the dark. Sacred shaping happens in the waiting."
Linking with Random 5 Friday and Beauty Observed
It sounds like you're having winter weather like us here. I agree...homemade soup and homemade bread are great things for a snow day! I'm visiting from Random Five Friday...and read your "about me" section on your blog. It caught my attention that you are a violinist and teacher...our daughter has been playing violin for 7 years now, and just loves it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! So glad to hear you have a violinist in your house. I teach my two daughters to play.
DeleteMe again... :) I'd love to make some connections..you can find my email on my profile page. I couldn't find one for you, and can't reply by email to your latest comment! My sister and brother in law live in Harrisonburg...you're right...we might have some connections!
DeleteBoo, for your Conference being cancelled! I'm in the same boat of finding a new stylist. I decided to grow it out because it seems no one can cut short curly hair here :-(. That is okay though I have a cute style pinned to my pinterest board, now if I can only make it through the grow out process.
ReplyDeleteI hate "breaking up" with people. I had the idea of growing mine out this last time, but went ahead and got it cut. Now I'm frustrated I have to grow it all out again. She just keeps putting too many short layers in...
DeleteSorry to hear about conference being cancelled. Wish I could recommend my hair stylist to you. :) Your post makes me love winter... and I need some help in that area. Chicago...too much snow!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Elizabeth's today.
Blessings.
I think the biggest key to loving winter is to fully embrace it. When we lived in more wintry climates, we just had to get out in it and make the most of it. I'm dying to go cross country skiing this winter, but we just haven't had the snow for it....now that the snow is here, the trails are really crowded. Gotta wait a bit until the enthusiasm dies down, then it will be our turn.
Deleteis there any area that snowing right now? I've already read a couple of random5friday posts about the snow. at least you got to stay & be warm.
ReplyDeletehave a great day.
Hi Jill, sorry that your conference was cancel! My kids ended up home Wednesday because of the snow here in Omaha. I guess it was Oregon's turn to get snow :) Nice pictures! Soup and bread are good choice for snow days! (I didn't get to play Random 5, I'm just visiting you)
ReplyDeleteWith all the snow around the country, I was wondering when we might get some. Well....we finally did!
Delete#3 sounds great. yum!! have you cut your own hair ever? i do. it is cheaper. i need to check this book out. thanks for the suggestion. ( :
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this beautiful pictures and true good quote.
ReplyDeleteWinter is the time of respite, voluntary or not...
Have a nice and quiet weekend :-)
A good stylist is hard to find.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a stylist or "hair cut place" as I call it in years. I do hope you find a good one soon -- our hair often dictates how we feel -- sad, but true! :) Thanks for joining in this week.
