Project Simplify ~ Piles

I was so happy to see this week's assignment was piles - finally something I'm good at!  I can make a beautiful pile on just about any clear surface. The piles are even most likely to be organized!

Oh wait....I think the assignment is actually to tackle and get rid of those piles. Well that's a different story.

I'm always fighting piles. I don't have any big "I'll deal with that later" piles. (Well, maybe I have one.)

No...most of my piles are results of me being lazy and just not taking the time to put things away. I'm always getting on my girls for not putting their things away when they are done, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out where they get their tendencies.

This is an area I'd really like to see some improvement in, so I'm going to do my best to prevent piles from forming in the first place! My two biggest hot spots are the kitchen counter and the laundry room.

BEFORE

AFTER

I just need to be diligent and deal with these two areas daily!

  1. I share the same love of pile making :) They make me feel like I'm organized when I have everything gathered together but when it sits there for days without being addressed it's pointless. It's a hard habit to break!

Your comment about getting on the girls to put their stuff away made me laugh. I read something the other day that said 99% of the things we harp on our kids about are things we are guilty of as well. I just kind of chuckled but then when I thought about it I couldn't believe how true it was. Almost everything I get onto Ten about is something I lack at doing myself. Definitely made me think and reconsider before I open my mouth :)

  2. Ugh, horizontal surfaces seem to attract piles faster than, well they do seem to accumulate don't they! I should take a look at this project, sounds like a good one!
