One _________ at a Time ~ Fill in the Blank

I've been reminded recently just how powerful one step can be. Sometimes we overwhelm ourselves by looking too much at the big picture, and if we could just see the power of "one" we would feel encouraged and inspired.

For example....

How will I ever homeschool my children through high school? (they are currently in grades 1 and 2)
One year at a time.

How will I ever make it through this year of homeschooling?
One day at a time.

How will I ever make it through this week?
One lesson at a time.

How will I ever lose 10 pounds?
One pound at a time.

How will I ever change my eating habits?
One meal at a time.

How will I ever read the entire Bible?
One page at a time.

How will I ever memorize an entire book of the Bible?
One word at a time.

How will I ever run a marathon?
One mile at a time.

How will I change the world and eliminate extreme poverty?
One child at a time.

How will I ever simplify my life and pare down my possessions?
One item at a time.

It all starts with one. And somedays (most days), ONE is enough and it's a step in the right direction!

  1. People used to ask me all the time, "how long are you planning on homeschooling, through high school?" I would always answer, "we are going to take it one year at a time." In May, my son graduated from our homeschool! There is definitely power in 'one'... :)
