Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread - Proverbs 30:8

This Day Thursday

Outside my window: It's cooler and drizzly today. I love looking out the window and seeing tulips in bloom and the leaves on the trees are beginning to show. Only a few more weeks until our neighbor's house is hidden.

Thankful for: It's hard to pick just one thing sometimes, but I'm still pretty thankful for the opportunity to make the connection between a boy in Kenya and our family more real. You see, we've been sponsoring Dominic Muchangi for the past 11 years through Compassion. He will soon complete his time in Compassion's program and we recently had the opportunity to send him some gifts through another sponsor who traveled to Kenya. She was able to meet our young man and brought back this beautiful basket his mother had made for us. It now sits in our home and is just a lovely addition to our front room.

Thinking about: Mexico! I just made the decision to go to Mexico with some others from my church family. The couple leading the trip started an orphanage down there several years ago and I'm looking forward to seeing this ministry and outreach first hand.

Reading: I always see to have a pile of books. I try to focus on one at a time, but I'm not always in the mood for what that book might be. I'm almost finished with The Big Year by Mark Obmascik.

Listening to: Unfortunately right now I'm hearing my girls argue with each other.

Weekend plans: We have a very exciting weekend. On Saturday my husband and I are running in a 15K relay race. Then Sunday is a BIG day for us. We are holding a Compassion Sunday even at our church and have been given most of the service. My husband will be delivering the sermon and I will have 10 minutes to talk about the ministry of Compassion International and share our sponsorship story.

I've shared a bit of my story on my own Compassion Sunday page....
