My Long-Lost, Neglected Friend

I have a friend whom I've spent hours ~ years really ~ nurturing a relationship with.

This friend and I....we have a love / hate relationship. Our friendship has seen some very hard times. I long to love this friend at all times, but more often than not I get very frustrated when we spend time together.

Expectations are always so high and I rarely get anywhere close to meeting them.

But I love this friend. I love that God gave me this friend ~ a companion for my life. I love that no matter how much time passes between our time together, this friend is always waiting for me to come back.

My friend is very old but still contains all the youthfulness in the world.

My friend has the most beautiful voice and is able to sing the most beautiful songs ever written.

I often feel like I'm holding this friend back from her full potential.

Because of my choices, my friend sits silent most days.

I miss my friend and I need to make a concerted effort to end her silent days. That's why I'm writing this ~ for accountability. And it's also why you might hear from me less.

A good relationship takes commitment. I'm committing to spending more time with my friend.
