Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread - Proverbs 30:8

A New Journey

I feel God calling me to intentionally enter a world of anti-consumerism and have decided to record my journey here. As a follower of Christ, I want Jesus to be enough for me. I am tired of constantly accumulating more and more stuff and want to be free to give more to others.

This is my journey.

The title and theme verse of this blog comes from Proverbs 30.

Two things I ask of you, O Lord;
do not refuse me before I die:
Keep falsehood and lies far from me'
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.
Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you
and say, "Who is the Lord?'
Or I may become poor and steal,
and so dishonor the name of my God.

I love this verse and what the writer is asking. I find that when I have too much, I don't need to depend on God to provide. And God has given me a heart of compassion for those who have very, very little. I've been on this journey for quite a while, but it seems to have taken a new turn recently.

Soon I will travel to Peru with Compassion International and will witness the poverty some are living in. I am excited about how God will use this trip to continue to mold, shape and direct me in this journey.
