31 Verses to Write on Your Heart by Liz Curtis Higgs

I go through phases when it comes to Scripture memorization. There was a time when I had two whole books of the Bible memorized, but lately I've grown complacent in this discipline. Memorization IS a spiritual discipline, though, and I'm hoping to grow in all the spiritual disciplines in 2017.

This book has 31 small chapters, each focusing on a verse that you can commit to memory. In some Liz looks at each word or phrases of words, then shares thoughts about it. In others Liz shares personal thoughts and stories that relate to the verse. At the end of each chapter, she shares a tip for memorization. All the verses are based on the New International Version, but she includes space at the end of each chapter to write the verse in your favorite translation if you prefer a different one.

I really like how accessible this book is and how easy it will be to work on the verses - one day or week at a time.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Tyndale House Publishers in exchange for this review.

  1. I find the art of mastering scripture amazingly impressive. It's not done in Judaism (while we do know phrases of psalms and Torah we don't have memory versus) - it really must imprint them on your heart!
