I went outside to read, but almost immediately after sitting down I saw two butterflies in my garden. I went inside to get my camera and zoom lens and then started photographing the beautiful butterflies.
I love butterflies. When I was much younger, my brother was fascinated by butterflies and I think my own love of these beauties stems from his interest.
I've only ever seen these yellow swallowtails and a smaller, white butterfly in my garden. I'd love to have more varieties, but I'm grateful to have at least these.
As I was standing there, camera in hand, a hummingbird arrived at my Crocosmia...just a few steps away! I see hummingbirds in my garden regularly, but by the time I get my camera and change the lens, they have often moved on. I was in the right place at the right time with the right gear!
This guy didn't seem deterred by my presence and stayed around a couple minutes. Long enough for me to get several shots.
He even kept resting on the flowers and just sat there for a couple seconds. They must weigh next to nothing to be able to sit on the flower stem and not weigh it down.

ReplyDeleteReally wonderfull
ReplyDeleteWow, and you did get some great shots of the Hummer as well as the Butterfly. We use to see so many Butterflies, but rarely do we anymore. Maybe only a couple during the Summer. Loved seeing the photos.

your images of the butterflies and hummingbird are lovely! Yes with bird photos in our garden we need to be prepared and ready! I particularly love the image where the bird is sitting on the drooping flower head and reaching up to the flower. Stunning capture. Have a lovely week and thank you for visiting my blog this week.
