I'm never ready to jump into Christmas after Thanksgiving. I'm glad Thanksgiving was on the early side of things this year and I've had a bit more time to transition from one holiday to another. Our family tradition has been to wait until the first Saturday of December to put up our tree and decorate the house. Today I pulled the bins out so I could get our advent things (which for some reason start on Dec 1 and not on the first Sunday of advent.
We've had some amazing skies this week, despite the rain (it's been SO rainy here).
And I am loving my cabbages....I'm so glad I remembered to plant these again this year. They last all winter with our mild weather and are so pretty. Purple is my favorite color, so it's fun to see all the shades these produce.
Two weeks ago my youngest daughter was sick, and it lasted right up until Thanksgiving. Now my oldest daughter doesn't feel well. As always there seems to be a bunch of yucky stuff going around.
Every year I think hard about how I can make the holiday season more meaningful. The best way I've found is to SLOW DOWN and not fill the calendar during the month of December. This year I want to make more time for face to face interactions - meet friends for coffee, invite friends to join us for poetry tea time and have people over for dinner.
That's the end of my ramblings....
